Online marketing trends are evolving with time. Businesses that are at the top of the game are those that are able to utilize internet in their marketing programs to be closer with their customer base. 1.8 billion people in the world access the internet for different purposes. Such a big number offers a big opportunity for internet marketers who are keen in meeting the needs and demands of the customers.
Advertisers are mostly facing the dilemma whether to invest in organic or pay per click search engine marketing. Now that search engine marketing is fast becoming a treacherous business, site builders have to make adjustments with the demands and trend of their customers and the trends in the internet market. In an effort to gain strong exposure at once, businesses are opting for pay per click search engine marketing rather than the organic one. Why? What are the advantages of PPC?
1. High traffic. Since the advertisers pay for keyphrases, then ones with the highest bids are on top of search engine searches. This will mean automatic exposure to possible customers.
2. Lower cost compared with other advertising methods. It’s almost always about the price of the keyphrases either using flat-rate or bid-based rate. Whatever it is, the cost of PPC is still relatively lower than the other forms of advertising. Most importantly, the advertisers only pay every time their ad is clicked.
However, one should not be blinded with these facts alone. There are more things to consider when looking at the possibility of utilizing pay per click in search engine marketing. The price of keyphrases/keywords is in continuous rise due to completion. There is also the existence of internet fraud and it is reported that 80 of search engine users never click paid advertisements.
The question here is actually on the quality and quantity of results. With PPC advertising, you have more exposure but the conversion rate of which might be still in question.
Organic search engine marketing might be still the best alternative. Pay per click will not necessarily mean optimizing your site and bring forth genuine interest about you and the products you offer. So when the money runs dry, the traffic will follow suit. In that sense you never had a strong foothold on the customers you are targeting you are always held hostage by the constant competition on keyword phrases. Once you establish yourself in organic search engine marketing, you will be blessed with free traffic when people start searching for the products that you offer.
Organic search engines might be more costly to develop and it might take quite a long time to gain more traffic as PPCs do, but long-term scenario could be more promising. I will not conclude that PPC is no good. It’s just that for a business to grow, the lasting outcome should always be considered in every investment, marketing investment included.
