For any website worth its salt, search engine optimisation is a major part of ensuring the success of the business. While it is of course vital to have your website up and running as soon as possible, it’s not going to attract half the traffic than if you set about optimising it using a variety of techniques. SEO encompassed a wide range of methods all focused on improving the traffic quantity, but most importantly quality going to your site. One important aspect of SEO is the application of PPC campaigns.

There are many different methods involved in SEO. Some work involves work on site to improve the quality and attractiveness of your site, while link building for instance does exactly what it says on the tin. It focuses on improving your sites rating by increasing the number of external links pointing to your site. PPC (or Pay per Click) campaigns take a far more direct approach to creating traffic for your site. What makes PPC’s a very attractive prospect and very different from many of the other methods is that it can have almost instantaneous results. Other methods are applied to generate a steady increase of traffic over time. PPC campaigns can yield results in just a few days of application.

What PPC campaigns involve is the creation of adverts for use within a major search engine. In most cases PPC is best applied in Google as this is by far the most popular search engine, meaning your advert will be seen by a greater audience. The PPC advert is placed within Google’s search results either above the natural listings or to the right hand side. This puts them instantly in the periphery of any potential customer searching for something in your line of products.

When someone clicks on your advertisement they are taken directly to the relevant page on your site and you are charged the nominal fee for the click. The more clicks you receive the greater the cost, but also the greater number of potential sales. If your site is well optimised to make sales then the cost of the campaign is marginal weighed up against the profit that you can make.PPC is one of the most highly sought after SEO services due to the potential it has when tied in with good website design.

Those companies who take on an optimistic budget can reap the rewards if they have their website ready to make the sales for them. It’s important to note however that PPC is not going to get you the sales, your website will. PPC is a means to an end and not an end in itself.
