If you’ve been in marketing for awhile but are still new to Internet marketing, or IM, you can be forgiven if your head starts spinning, just thinking about it. After all, there seems to be almost a million ways that you can pick from when you’re considering marketing to an online audience and your prospects. When starting this adventure it may help to consider your prospects as customers you’ve not met yet. Especially keep your prospects in mind when doing an AdWords training program.

That being said, one of the quickest ways to generate massive, laser targeted traffic is through the use of the 800-pound gorilla of the search engine world, Google.

The quickest way is by using AdWords and going through an AdWords training program. What is AdWords? It is a program specifically for business owners who have an online presence and wish to get targeted traffic as fast as possible. You sign up for an account, and then create ads that will appear on Google. Depending on your budget, you may even be #1 for your chosen keyword. This of course, brings us to the most important thing to keep in mind when doing AdWords training: keyword research.

Keyword research is of paramount importance and should be the main focus of any good AdWords training program. If you do the research correctly, you will have laser targeted traffic at a fraction of the cost of traditional print ads. Done poorly however, and you can see your costs skyrocket. This fact alone is something that keeps new marketers away from Adwords and AdWords training programs.

Ok, so you’ve taken the time to really do your keyword research. What else should you keep in mind? The next thing you need to do is, of course, write your ad. But, this may not be as straight forward as you would like. You are limited to the amount of text you can use, and so must make sure that it catches your prospects eye. A key thing to remember here is not to sound too hyped up. Remember, your prospect is looking to solve a particular problem, not be sold. Present a solution, not a sales pitch. The art of writing a compelling ad that pulls and helps people to buy (you want buyers, not lookers) is also something that a good AdWords training program will have.

Finally, you’ve got your ad just the way you want it and are ready to rock the world. The only thing left to do is let it ride, right? Not so fast! Start off small and check continuously. Even if you have the money to spend, be frugal. A key thing that good AdWords training programs teach you is split testing. That is, using a small budget, put two ads in motion for one week or until you get 100 clicks. Pause the ads and check your click through rate as well as your total expenditure. Which one does better? The one that does better is the one you want to keep going with.

AdWords training programs will teach you much more than what I’ve briefly covered here. In fact, they will go in depth with the topics above and several more. One last thing is: do not let AdWords scare you. Think of it as just another tool in your Internet marketing arsenal. The best way to get over any trepidation is to simply DO IT. As you do more, you will get better, faster and find that you will spend less on advertising, while increasing your sales.

And ulimately, that is what a good AdWords training program will teach you.
