What is pay per click? When you go to Google and type in “web design westchester” you see the top sites come up in the white. The two sites on the top and the website ads on the right is what pay per click is. Those people actually pay to get their website in those areas.
Is pay per click worth it? Most of the time you lose money before you actually make money. The reason is because you have to experiment which keywords, ad copy, and bid to place that will give you the most customers. When I say customers I mean people who are going to purchase your products or services, not prospects (people who are just looking). I normally tell people to try it out and keep track of how many people are turning into clients. You can run daily, weekly, or monthly analysis using Google Analytics.
What keywords do I use? When you are searching for the right key words to use for pay per click it is important not to go straight to the “good deal”. Why? Because a lot of the times those keywords are cheap because they don’t hold as much value as other more expensive keywords. A lot of times I look at competition and what they are putting on their ads (it’s not cheating!)
Is pay per click important? I think the people who use pay per click for the easy key words, such as web design Westchester, is wasting their money and time. It takes a little bit of work to get to the front page, however it can be done. If you cannot do it yourself spend the few hundreds of dollars and have a professional do it (like me). I think it’s worth it to spend the money on an SEO specialist to get you to the top, but then again there are negatives.
It is up in the air if it will save you money, however think about this how often do you read or even bother to look at those ads? I know my answer is that I never do! Sometimes I’ll click on my competitor’s ads just to click it and make them spend the dollar (I know it’s cruel)! But anyway that is about all the interaction I have with that portion of Google. Besides you are paying anywhere from 20 cents to 5 dollars (depends on the keyword and how many people want it) to get seen! Well lets just do an average of 2 dollars… Are you telling me that you are going to spend 200 dollars for every 100 people that come to your website? I guess it really depends how many of those people turn into customers. But the point is SEO really isn’t that difficult once you get the hang of it, it’s just a lot of work because there are so many people trying to get to the front page along with you. However, if you can get to the front page I recommend that instead of PPC and that is my final answer!

A lot of new advertisers spend a lot of money on PPC advertising. The get very excited initially when they see all the clicks on their advertisements. What then happens to the vast majority is they get terribly disappointed when all the traffic does not convert into a sale.
This is where landing pages could dramatically improve the conversion rate. A landing page is easy to create. You could use free websites like Weebly or Hubpages to create a landing page where you give the customer information about the product or service that are going to lead him to.
This would result in.
- Much better conversion rates.
- Raw PPC advertising which sends the customer straight to the product page could have a conversion rate as low as 0.5% to 1.5% on an average. A landing page will at least double those prospects.
What should you put in a landing page?
Depending on the product or service you are selling, it is best to write a review. The review could be long or short but the most important part of the review is to show the customer that you have bought the product. You will have to provide them with information that very clearly indicates to them that you have spent money on the product yourself.
If you instead just say “This is a great product” or “The Best in Category”, all you will do is waste money on PPC advertising. Go ahead and take some effort and write a review of the product that you have been trying to sell for a long time. You will be very surprised with the results.

PPC advertising can get you hundreds of clicks everyday and you might wait patiently assuming that all the targeted traffic will get you a lot of business. But when you log in to your affiliate accounts and see no sale, you really start to wonder if PPC advertising is even worth it.
PPC advertising is great when done right. For starters, you have to understand that the majority of people out there are looking for free information. For example, lets say someone is looking to buy a weight loss diet program. If you had put up a PPC advertisement that says “Lose 20 pounds in 10 days”, the customer will definitely click on it. But when he is redirected to your affiliate product page, there is a 99.5% chance that he will look around and then continue to search for free information.
These sort of customers are in the very early stages of product research. They have not even made up their mind to spend money on a weight loss product. You can avoid the costs of these people clicking on your advertisements by simply mentioning the fee for the product in the ad. Your traffic will dip dramatically but your conversion rates will increase quite well.
This is because the person who clicks on your advertisement which mentions a dollar figure is prepared to spend that money. He just needs to be convinced about the product to spend his money there and allow you to get that commission. Convincing him to buy is another ball game all together and you could achieve it with well written reviews.
But for starters, you can indicate that you are selling a product or service for a fee to eliminate clicks from people who are looking for free information.
